Think about this. What is the most important item in your home? Here’s a hint. It is not your TV. What is it, you ask? It is the mirror. In the mirror you will see who and what you really are. The mirror never lies to you. It will always tell you the truth…even when you don’t want to hear or see it. But you know what? We need to hear and see the truth. The truth about our lives will only come from deep down within ourselves and from there, we will need to actually spend some time looking deep within ourselves.
You can hide your emotions from your friends. You can hide them from your family. You can hide them from your coworkers, but you can never hide them from yourself. When you look in the mirror, you are looking at the person who made you who you are, and who will make you into who you will become. After looking at yourself in your eyes for about 2 minutes, I want you to ask yourself the following questions:
- What in my life am I happy about?
- What in my life needs improvement?
- How can I become the person that I want and need to be?
When you give yourself the attention you deserve, you will start to understand that improvement can be made a lot faster and is much longer-lasting when we change from the heart. Life sometimes is unforgiving, but if you commit to that person in the mirror, stand up for that person, encourage that person, love that person – there is absolutely nothing you can’t accomplish – good luck.
Remember, sometimes before you can help others, you have to help yourself.
