So, what’s the plan???

I was working out on legs in the gym last week, and had an experience that I would like to share with you.  I was about to use the Leg Press.  However, a guy showed up and looked like he was going to use it before I could make my way over to the machine.  So, once I got over to it, I asked him “Hey, are you going to use that?”  His response…”If you are going to use it, you can because I haven’t decided what I want to do yet”.

Unfortunately, the poor guy did not have a clue towards what he wanted to accomplish.  It was obvious that he had no plan. Is this any different from how so many people approach their lives every day?  So many people wake up to life without any type of plan of what they want to accomplish for that particular day, month, or year.  Instead of working a plan, they just “wake up”, expecting everything else to take care of itself.  However, life never happens this way.

If you want to start getting the most out of your life, you must have a plan.  It is absolutely critical to any type of achievement.  You were put here not to wander through life, making it up as you go (like our friend in the gym).  You were put here to achieve your purpose.  And you will never achieve your purpose without a plan built around that purpose.

Plans help you discover your strengths and help you submit to your life’s leadership, and your life’s support!  We are all lead by something that is greater than us.  This allows us to go beyond our limits and turn our awesome potential into true power.  Likewise, we all need help in life. In working your plan, the leadership in your life is allowed to take shape and give you direction.   Additionally, your support system becomes evident and active due to your chosen path in your life.

So, what are the key elements to a plan?  First, you must establish your purpose.  Secondly, you establish your goal.  After these principles are in place, you start brainstorming ideas as to how to get to your goal, and what resources you have in your life that will help you achieve it. Look at the big picture, and then break it down into achievable objectives.  Ultimately, you will translate the objectives of the big picture into specific behavior.  Once the behavior starts taking over, you are now working your plan and are well on your way!
