Almost everyone is familiar with the old saying, you are what you eat. And while that saying may have some truth to it, there is another statement that holds a lot more truth. Catch this…You are what you do! Now, this statement is 100% true.
Think about it…you are what you do. At the basic level of life, our individual lives have building blocks. These building blocks are called habits. In essence, our lives are a continuous chain of habits. And at the end of your life, people will remember you based on the habits that you exemplified.
The same thing you did yesterday, you will probably do today. The things you did last year, you are probably doing this year. Why…because as humans we are creatures of habit. The question is, does your habits serve you, or do they take away from you? The answer to that question determines if your life will be successful or not. There are so many unsuccessful people in life…and it’s for one reason. They have unsuccessful habits. There are so many successful people in life….and it’s for one reason. They have successful habits. Makes sense doesn’t it?
Here’s the key…if you are unsuccessful, you are probably saying to me, Coach Dwayne…it can’t be that simple…you don’t know my story. And although I do empathize with people, the fact is…it is just that simple. If you are unsuccessful, it’s because you have constructed your life on unsuccessful habits. Conversely, if you happen to be on the successful side of life, then I have no doubt that you agree with me 100%. If you are successful, you know that life is the result of the habits that you have stacked together.
You determine your life’s success rate by the type of habits that you adopt into your life. That’s essentially what I do as a Coach. I help my clients identify the habits that no longer serve them, and in fact are destructive habits to the life they actually want to live. Once the habit is identified, I then work with my client to replace it. The old habit is replaced with something that helps them achieve their specified goal.
So, if you find yourself in a life that you don’t want, don’t give up…there is hope. Continue to drive toward what you want. Examine your habits. Work with a Coach. Talk to a friend. Get the help you need to achieve your goals…at the end of the day, that is all that matters.
Inspired Vision’s Point of Power: All habits are not created equal. Change only happens when we change our habits.
