I want it now. Most likely, this is how you feel most of the time. And there is a reason for that…with microwaves, instant movie and data streaming, constantly being connected to the world on our phones, we tend to forget the fact that anything and everything we achieve in your life takes an important skill. What is that skill? Patience.
There is no doubt that we live in an “I want it now society”. And when things don’t happen in the time frame when we think they should happen or want them to happen, it leads to a cascading effect of our emotions. Frustration, depression, and anger set in because our patience is lacking.
Society dictates to us to get it now…to have it now – all in the name of luxury, and comfort. There are multimillion dollar businesses out there to help you improve yourself to achieve this status. Normally, they will help you learn to do more with less, or doing something faster. But let’s stop and focus on something…when was the last time you worked on your patience?
Typically speaking, we hardly EVER deliberately work on our patience. In this life when our patience is tested, it’s normally by force. There’s usually no choice in the matter at all. We become impatient with everything in our lives, with our friends, with our family, and even with ourselves.
Patience is stored momentum towards the life you want, and instead of growing weaker, our patience should be growing stronger with each day. So the question is, how do we strengthen our patience levels? One way is to learn to meditate. Meditation allows you to learn to listen to yourself longer, and evaluate what you are saying to yourself.
Take care of yourself by taking care of your patience. This is critical to achieving your goals and becoming a shining light to others. When you are doing all you can to make things happen for yourself, sometimes you have to realize that patience is the key to your eventual success. Exercising your patience allows you to make your wisest decisions and grow exponentially as a person. In short, everything you will achieve in your life starts and ends with your level of patience.
