Let’s talk about your goals and just how fragile they really are. Your goals start off as babies. They start off weak, unable to stand, unable to walk. Your goal is a little infant crying for attention. And if you are like most people, you start off by giving it some attention, but you know you don’t give it as much attention as you should. So, after days, months, and maybe years of half-hearted effort, you begin to realize that if your goal is to truly become a success, you must do more than what you thought was required of you. You have to realize that your life has changed forever…and more importantly, accept it.
You are both the father and mother to your goal. So much time is taken up when are pursuing it. You become overwhelmed with your multiple responsibilities. And quite frankly, every day is not a good day. Some days you wonder why you are even doing it, or even if it’s worth the effort. Sometimes you get post-goal-depression when you realize that it is not fun…its work.
Good or bad…your goal has your genetics. Your goal takes on your identity – whatever that identity is. It simply depends on your approach to nurturing your goal and its attainment. Are you a go-getter? Are you lazy? Are you only into doing the fun stuff? Do you love to be challenged? All these things become your goal’s genetic makeup while you are working on it. Your goal can not mature until you mature it. One way to mature your goal is to consistently work on it with baby steps. Set daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly objectives for your goal and soon you will find it growing exponentially.
The ultimate thing to keep in the forefront of your mind is that you are solely responsible for the goal’s life. No one else can do it for you. More importantly, no one else even wants to do it for you. So, remember, it’s all up to you to build the goal day by day and night by night.
Inspired Point of Power: Goals only mature through action.
