The path you choose in life dictates everything you get in life. Not only that, but it will determine who you will meet, what you will learn, and ultimately if you are fulfilled or not. Most people will not walk their path. In fact, because we are so influenced by others, oftentimes we end up walking on a path that may have never been meant for us.
For this reason, I want to cover several steps that will allow you to walk your own path in life. Steps you will each have to take over and over again while you are traveling to your destination. Let’s get started.
Step 1: Be willing to trust your own intuition. Intuition is defined as the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. It is something that each of us is endowed with since birth. However, it must be cultivated and thoroughly established within ourselves. Building self-trust takes a lot of time, a lot of successes, and painfully…a lot of failures. However, it pays enormous dividends in the end.
Step 2: Be wise enough to know when to listen to others. It’s true – some people can see further than you. Some people know more about you than you have realized about yourself. Listening to others can help you objectively evaluate where you are in life. Always evaluate things that are said based on your internal intuition. This adds fuel to the fire and keeps you motivated on your path.
Step 3: You must be willing to walk alone. This can be the hardest to execute when following your path. However, it is necessary and inevitable that one day you will find yourself all alone with no one to turn to. You will simply have your intuition, and the past advice of others to lean on. Everyone in your life will have fallen away, and you will have to keep walking in order to bring new and more suitable people into your life.
There are different variations to these three steps, but ultimately they are the foundation for success. Take some time and establish these three principles in your life, and begin the journey to your destination.
