1..2..Believe

Guilty

We are all guilty of an unforgivable crime: the crime of comparison. Everyone has compared themselves to another person at some point in their life. Be it siblings, co-workers, athletics, academics, you name it – we’ve all done it. However, even though we’ve done it and some of us may currently do it, comparison with others is toxic to our overall well-being.

First of all, we must rest assured that the connection to the toxic behavior can be severed. The only thing that sets us from this behavior is that to acknowledge that it is a learned behavior. That’s right. It is learned.

Take Responsibility

It’s not your fault that you were taught certain things that no longer serve you. However, it is your responsibility to correct it, and to grow stronger from it. So, let’s do that, now.

If anything can be learned, it can be unlearned. So, how do we unlearn toxic behaviors? First, we must first find a great teacher. Who is in your life right now that is able to teach you not to compare yourself? The answer is: You!

 A Three Step Process

You can teach yourself by using tried and true tactics like affirmations. A key is to write down affirmations to help you love yourself and respect yourself TOO MUCH for comparison. That’s step one. Step two, set a daily timer to read them and practice them when you are alone. As you continue to tell yourself these things, you will reach Step Three…Belief!

Seize the Opportunity

We have the opportunity to teach ourselves every day. This is a major opportunity. And an opportunity is only good to us if we are able to take advantage of it. Doing the three simple tips I’ve laid out in this post can guarantee that you stop the toxic behavior and teach yourself something you may not be too familiar with right now: to love yourself too much to compare yourself.

Inspired Point of Power: Follow the first two steps and the third step will be automatic!
